Random thoughts on health, healing, joy, energy, balance, and other yoga-related topics…
In September of 2005, I began taking yoga as a way to deal with the emotional and physical stress I was experiencing in the aftermath of my father’s death. It soon became apparent that I’d found a way to healing. After taking yoga lessons for about a year, I realized that this particular form of "meditation through movement" was what I had been craving for a long time...and the best way to further my understanding of this ancient art was to take teacher training.
And so, in July of 2007, I completed Yoga Teacher Training and was certified at the 200 hour level (RYT200). The weeks and months of learning yoga, and of simply being with my teachers and fellow students, was one of my life’s most beautiful experiences. I am now continuing my training with more classes at different yoga studios and (perhaps) I’ll slowly work towards achieving the RYT500 level. As time goes on, I may teach some regular classes too.
I’ll be teaching a special workshop for writers and illustrators in September of 2009, called Yoga for Writers and Illustrators. (More information to follow—for now, I’m just very excited about it!). Yoga gives me added energy for writing and art and I’d like to share the magic. It feels so good to take a yoga break after hours of sitting at a computer. I highly recommend it! And don't forget to breathe...

Here is a photo of me at seven years old in my acrobatics class—little did I know that I’d still be doing the splits several decades later! Yoga got me back to this level of flexibility very quickly, much to my amazement. Of course, the poses (asana) are not everything in yoga, but I enjoy them very much. It feels good to keep the energy moving.
I honor the light within you.
Namaste.
